Refund policy

At Upstitched Creations, every piece is handcrafted with care. Because of the artisanal nature of my work, my return and refund policies are straightforward and based on the type of piece you purchase.


What Can Be Returned?
Signature Collection Pieces (Ready to Ship)

These pieces may be returned within 14 days of delivery if:

  • The item is unworn and in original condition
  • You contact me first to initiate the return
  • You cover return shipping costs

Refund process:

  • Once I receive and confirm the item's condition, I'll issue a refund for the purchase price
  • Refunds are processed within 5-7 business days to your original payment method
  • Shipping costs are non-refundable

What Cannot Be Returned? (Final Sale)
1. Custom Orders & Made-to-Order Pieces

All custom and made-to-order pieces are final sale once you approve the completed piece and final payment is made.

Why? Each piece is created specifically for you based on your specifications, colors, and sizing. These pieces cannot be resold.

Your protection:

  • Before final payment, you'll receive photos of your completed piece for approval
  • If you have concerns at that stage, I'll work with you to address them
  • Once you approve and final payment is made, the sale is final

Deposit refunds:

  • Before work begins: Full deposit refund if you cancel before I've ordered materials
  • After materials ordered: Deposit minus cost of materials will be refunded
  • After work begins: Deposit is non-refundable (materials purchased, time invested)
2. One-of-a-Kind Pieces (Reimagined & Adorned Collections)

All pieces in the Reimagined and Adorned collections are final sale, even if they're ready to ship.

Why? These pieces are:

  • Truly one-of-a-kind and cannot be recreated
  • Made from unique source materials (upcycled garments, freestyle fiber art)
  • Artistic expressions that exist only once

Product photos and detailed descriptions show each piece accurately. If you have questions before purchasing, contact me.

3. Worn, Washed, or Altered Items

Items that have been worn, washed, or altered cannot be returned. Each piece takes hours of handwork to create, and I want to ensure it finds the right home.


Quality Issues

Quality issues are extremely rare, but if one occurs:

  1. Contact me immediately with photos
  2. I'll work with you to make it right
  3. Solutions may include repairs, adjustments, or (in rare cases) a remake or refund

I stand behind my craftsmanship and am committed to your satisfaction.


Fit Concerns

Fit concerns are rare because:

  • I discuss sizing before creating custom pieces
  • Most pieces are designed with generous, forgiving fits
  • Measurements are provided on all product pages

If you have fit concerns:

  • Contact me within 7 days of delivery.
  • Depending on the piece and issue, minor adjustments may be possible
  • I handle each situation case-by-case with compassion

Damaged or Defective Items

If your item arrives damaged or defective:

  1. Contact me within 48 hours of delivery
  2. Include photos of the damage and packaging
  3. I'll arrange for a replacement, repair, or full refund (including shipping)

Note: I'm not responsible for damage caused after successful delivery confirmation.


How to Initiate a Return

(Applies only to eligible Signature Collection pieces)

Step 1: Contact me within 14 days of delivery with:

  • Your order number
  • Reason for return
  • Photos of the item

Step 2: Wait for my return authorization and shipping instructions

Step 3: Ship the item back using a trackable method

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs
  • I recommend insurance for items over $100
  • I'm not responsible for items lost in return transit

Step 4: Once I receive and inspect the item, I'll process your refund within 5-7 business days


Exchanges

I don't offer direct exchanges due to the handmade nature of my work.

For eligible returns:

  1. Follow the return process above
  2. Place a new order for the piece you'd like

For custom pieces: Exchanges are not available as each piece is created specifically for you.


Cancellations
Custom/Made-to-Order Pieces:
  • May be cancelled before work begins (full or partial refund depending on materials)
  • Cannot be cancelled once creation has started
Ready-to-Ship Orders:
  • May be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase for full refund
  • After 24 hours, standard return policies apply
